many sadly do not like this time of year if they are alone
it makes them feel more alone!!
I personally like the getting together with family
and friends... and the fun too

Christmas is already many different things to many people, some religious, some not. Why give it an artificial name? I do not think the word offends anyone so keep it as it is.
If not will Easter become Bunnytime or Eggster?
Have fun!-

exactly Alan!!
All this P.C sometimes goes to far
My partner as you know is Muslim and he expects his
Christmas pressie and a ho-ho-ho and in the same respect
I celebrate Ede and enjoy the food
I believe we should each respect all different festivals
in the spirit of one... and in a community spirit!!
Merry Christmas time !!

My path is really eclectic, a bit from here and some from there. I am not offended by Christmas and in fact celebrate the holiday with my family. Some take offense as they associate it with Christianity only and that is their choice. As time goes my I see the time of year more as Yule as it fits me present path and really my past path much better. I would not like a generic name put on the day.

Saturnalia~ beginnig of winter solstice celebration.
It is expressed that Christmas celebration is not
entirely Christian anyway!!
We presume it is and in actual fact has its roots more
with pagan origin!
It is very comlex how Christmas actually came to be!!
But the main value I feel is the gatheing of friends and family!!
I too do not like the P.C.element, to avoid saying
Merry Christmas... I love this time of year
with fun

Christmas is what it is - different things to different people. We all call it different things, we all celebrate it different ways, we celebrate it for different reasons - religious, traditional etc - but at the end of the day the best part about Christmas it that it brings people together and thats what I think people should care about the most

As a Pagan i dont celebrate Christmas, but do mark Yule as a special time for me and the kids.
The Christmas festival does originate from the Pagan celebration (though they really dislike being reminded of that). It marks the changing of the season and we choose to celebrate that rather than the Christian Christmas which these days is all about greed and want, nothing to do with religion it seems.
Over time all of the Pagan festivals seem to have been adopted and adapted by Christianity, not only Yule as Christmas, but Ostara as Easter, Lughnasdh as Harvest Festival and Samhain as All Saints day. Im sure Imbolc is something to Christianity as well, but i cant remember what they call it.

I dont know why they deny where the festival actualy originates from. My guess is that as Christianity spread to the Pagan countries, the stories of Paganism being evil spread too.
Most fairy tales suggest witches to be the evil ones that cook children alive, poision young maidens with dodgy apples and infected needles. They make out we are ugly. All this is to deter children from wishing to know more about their Pagan roots. Our ancestors came from Pagan and Druid communities or the mystical teachings of further afield. There is even a strong connection between Hinduism and Paganism.
Im not sure why they confuse Satanism with Paganism either when the two are nowhere near connected.

Hello!!

It is a matter that has caused many to feel annoyed!!
Christmas is a festival that actually originates
from Pagan times... and has altered in many ways
through the centuries...
People like to keep their traditions...
as long as the spirit of it is shared with love
within your own personal way and with those who bring you
joy... that is what counts!!

Christmas should be a celebration of friends and families coming together to enjoy one another simply because they can. Forget the gifts and all the false charm the season brings out and vow to be good to one another each and every day.
xx
I would call that the spirit of living.
